Meyerbeer’s Opera Le Prophète was one of the most influential works of the 19th century, inspiring Verdi, Wagner, Liszt and others with its dramatic score. Caprice sur Le Prophète de Meyerbeer begins with an extended Aria with several cadenzas. The work ends with a Polka in Rondo form which has a brillant variation./L’Opéra de Meyerbeer Le Prophète est une des oeuvres la plus influente du 19ème siècle, ayant influencé Verdi, Wagner, Liszt et d’autres compositeurs. Caprice sur Le Prophète de Meyerbeer commence par un air entendu avec plusieurs cadences. L’oeuvre finit avec un polka en forme de rondo avec une variation brillante pour terminée l’œuvre.

"Divertissement sur Une Ballade Irlandaise" begins with a lyric introduction in bel canto style. The Irish Ballade is named in the score as « My Lodging is on the Cold Ground », but is sometimes known as « Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms » and is followed by a brilliant variation. After an ornamented modal passage in 6/8, the allemande theme is presented first in a moderate tempo, and then in a more rapid variant which uses « cross string » figerations similar to those used by fiddlers./"Divertissement sur Une Ballade Irlandaise" commence par une introduction lyrique dans un style bel canto. La Ballade Irlandaise est nommé selon la partition « My Lodging is on the Cold Ground », mais ce thème est également connu sur le titre « Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms » et elle est suivie par une variation brillante. This work opens with motives from the Opera‘s overture, leading to Donna Anna’s 1st act aria "Or sai, chi l'onore". The duet "Là ci darem la mano" is the subject of two variations followed by a brief interlude using Zerlina’s aria "Batti, batti, o bel Masetto" and then the final section is the duo "Andiam’ Andiam ‘ Mio Bene" between Don Giovanni and Zerlina which ends the Act I duet. The work ends with a brillant coda./Cette oeuvre commence avec des motives de l’Ouverture qui mènent à l’aria de Acte I de Donna Anna : "Or sai, chi l'onore". Le duo: "Là ci darem la mano" est le sujet pour deux variations. "Le Retour: Polka" was probably written to celebrate Soualle's return to France in 1860. After a short introduction, the work has an opening aria which finishes with a cadenza. This leads into the main section of the work which is a lively Polka in a modified Rondo form./"Le Retour: Polka" est probablement écrite pour fêter le retour en France du compositeur en 1865. Après une brève introduction, l'oeuvre commence avec un aria qui finit avec une cadence. La pièce se termine avec le Polka propre qui est dans la forme d'un rondo.

The Shanghai Redowa Waltz was written for a concert given by Ali Ben Sou Alle on September 9, 1856 in Shanghai, China. The Redowa is a Czech dance which is between the Waltz and the Mazurka which was popular in Paris and London during the 1840s-1850s which is danced in a relatively slow tempo./Le Shanghai Redowa Waltz est écrite pour un concert donné par Ali Ben Sou Alle le 9 septembre, 1856 à Shanghaï, Chine Le Redowa est une danse Tchèque qui est entre la valse et le Mazurka qui est très populaire à Paris et à Londres entre 1840-1850 qui est dansé dans une mouvement rélativement lente.

"Souvenirs d’Angleterre" is composed of an opening aria with a number of cadenzas followed by a Valse brillante with variations. Stylistically, the work seems to be more influenced by German Classical music (note especially the classical piano figurations in the opening aria, reminiscent of such composers as Beethoven and Weber). The Valse has an expressive variation in a minor key and the entire work ends, elegantly, pianissimo./"Souvenirs d’Angleterre" se compose d’un aria avec un certain nombre de cadences suivi par une Valse brillante avec variations. L’oeuvre semble avoir plus de références à la musique allemande classique (à noter surtout la figuration pianistique dans l’aria initial, qui rappelle des oeuvres des compositeurs tels que Beethoven et Weber). La Valse a une variation expressive en mineur et se termine d’une mannière élégante en pianissimo.

Souvenirs d’Ecosse begins with a classical aria which leads to theme and three variations on the Scottish song « Charley is my Darling », a ballade by Charles Gray (1782-1851). The work ends with a brillant and decidedly non-Scottish bolero, which was probably a piece that Soualle wrote while he was in Scotland./Souvenirs d’Écosse commence avec un aria très classique qui mène à un thème avec trois variations de la ballade écossaise « Charley is my Darling », de Charles Gray (1782-1851). L’œuvre se termine avec un brillant Boléro qui n’est pas très écossais, mais qui a probablement été composé pendant le séjour de Soualle en Écosse.

"Souvenirs de la Chine" starts with a setting of the Chinese folksong « Loc-tee-kun-tzin », one of eight used by Pucinni in his opera Turandot but set in a completely different harmonic context here. The Rondo which follows is in the form of a valse with several scherzando passages and an brillant code. The folksong is briefly reprised before the concise ending./"Souvenirs de la Chine" commence avec la mélodie folklorique chinoise « Loc-tee-kun-tzin », une des huit mélodies chinoises utilisée par Pucinni dans son opéra Turandot mais harmonisée dans une manière complètement différemment. Le Rondo qui suit est dans la forme d’une valse avec plusieurs passages « scherzando » et un coda brillante. La mélodie chinoise est reprise avant le passage final concis.
