Jalal Abbasov

Biography

Jalal Abbasov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1957. The Son of noted Azeri composer Ashraf Abbasov, he was introduced to music at a very early age and completely his studies at the Baku State Music Academy. In 1990, Jalal Abbasov was awarded the Azerbaijan Youth Union Prize for his musical compostions.

He has written a large number of works including works for Symphony Orchestra, chamber Music, music for solo instruments, a Children's Opera and a great deal of choral works. He was awarded a UNESCO prize in 1998 and recently was the only composer from the Former Soviet Republics to take part in the 2002 Asian Composers' League symposium "Asian Music in the Third Millenium"

Jalal Abbasov est né à Bakou, Azerbaijan en 1957. Le fils du compositeur Ashraf Abbasov, il a eu ses premiers cours auprès de son père et puis a poursuivi sa scolarité au Conservatoire d'État de Bakou. En 1990, Jalal Abbasov a reçu le Prix de l'Union Azerbaidjanaise de la Jeunesse pour ses compositions musicales.

Son catalogue comporte des oeuvres pour orcheste symphonique, musique de chambre, musique pour instruments solistes, un opéra pour Enfants et un grand nombre d'oeuvres chorales. Jalal Abbasov a gagné un Prix UNESCO en 1998 et en 2002 il a été le seul compositeur Azeri de participer dans la colloque "La Musique de l'Asie dans la Troisième Millenaire".
